In the Eyes of the Beholder…1

When I was 9, I remember standing in line after recess in my over sized Dallas Cowboys T-shirt, knee length jean shorts catching my breath after a game of dodge ball. I overheard some girls talking about our class trip to Sunsplash ( a water park) and heard them start talking about how fat they were. Immediately, I thought,”  THEY think they’re fat? If  THEY think they’re fat……what am I?”
Dolls, before this, there was still an innocence attached to the view of myself.
I had never compared my body, looks, or beauty to anyone  up until one horrifying conversation had been overheard.

My world and worth was completely changed.

As I struggled with anorexia (that my parents still never knew I struggled with for a very short time). My identity shifted to and fro, looking for real satisfaction and contentment when I looked in the mirror & ultimately finding it in my long term boyfriend whom I “almost” married (Brandy was right, ALMOST DOESN’T COUNT) and we split and yet again I was left with a more-than-shaky self image.
Now 25 years old, I look into my past and see all the fallacies that wore on my heart from such a young age & that IS a devastating thing to imagine my nieces already experiencing at the ages of 7-10 years old . However, whether it was then or not, I would’ve been exposed to the world and sought out value from men/how “sexy” I could look/ media/ultimately comparing ourselves.  I think I still struggle with that sometimes, honestly  I’m quite convinced we all do, Dolls.
Though inwardly, we are all flawed & imperfect; always STRIVING to be something better or greater.. (Um, can I get a witness!?)
I’m reminded that on the outside, we were created by a God who doesn’t make mistakes; Therefore, we are without flaw.
No mistakes.
In all the uniqueness we claim to have, how much far and deep do we really embrace that?
You, Doll, needn’t look much farther than resting in knowing you were created without defect and out of all the other dolls in the world.; are cherished and looked upon with deep adoration in the Eyes of  ONE Beholder.

Till Next Time Beloved Dolls,
Valerie Rose

Glamour on a budget: Beauty tip 1010

EBC9ADA97DD8E277EA64D8ABDFA09651 Glamour on a budget: Beauty tip 101

It’s summer time and as much as I want to splurge, I can’t. With summer school and Fall semester around the way, I put myself on a budget that allows me to still look glamourous, no matter how low the price is. I’m sure you dolls have already peeped www.Forever21.com ’s beauty line, which is available in-store and online. I have purchased everything from nail polishes, makeup brushes, mirrors, facials and other girly knick knacks from them. I must say when I first tried one of their facial masks, I was very impressed. My face was flawless, it was smooth and clear. I picked a mint mask that was green and it was only $1.80. Summer skin is all about having a peachy/bronzy complexion, or a “glow” appearance. Make sure you have a good skin regimen and biotin vitamins also work for great skin, nails and hair growth.

I swear by it… TheraPearl5

TheraPearl2 I swear by it... TheraPearl

I go to school in KY & we have the craziest weather, like one day it’s 85 degrees like today, and one day it’s 40 degrees, and when I sleep, I either need something warm or cold to juxtapose the weather. I stumbled upon a company called TheraPearl & OMG! They have THE best products. They have these gel bead packets pictured above, that you can either freeze or microwave, and they are sooo soothing. I gave blood for the Red Cross and I swear my arm was killing me, so I wrapped the packet up in a towel, tossed it in the microwave and fell asleep with it on my arm. Needless to say my arm feels fine again. I’m also in love with the eye mask, when I tell you it takes every ounce of a headache away, please believe me. They range from $5.99 – $30.00 and honestly, that’s not bad for a quality product that analgesic powers. so stop heating up towels, in the microwave, and putting cool damp washcloths on your face to cool down or relax and go get a mask or pack now. Check them out HERE

P.S. When you use it warm, it’s really effective for cramps! More pix of the rectangular sports back, below.
