…………For a BOYFRIEND?

       It’s that dreadful time of year again, isn’t it Dolls? You know what I’m talking about! Yup, its the holidays. Apart from dusting off your Bing Crosby vinyls, pulling out your favorite holiday dress, and the smell pumpkin EVERYTHING polishing the aroma in your kitchen-it is absolutely dreadful as well isn’t it? It seems as if every time you hit the REFRESH button on Facebook, Someone and Whats-her-face are “IN A RELATIONSHIP”. You get your invites to the holiday parties you’ve been looking forward to all year; some are even having Christmas caroling, who doesn’t love Christmas caroling?!  But then comes the inevitable question: “So, who are YOU bringing?”

          Naturally, we’re relational creatures. We crave it, but to what point is “craving” a relationship truly healthy for us? Before I really begin, please don’t mistake my points here for a bitter, tainted heart. I believe in beautiful, sacred, monogamous L O V E! But as I speak with friends, watch Facebook statuses changed, and scan my T.V. channels and come across “A Boyfriend for Christmas” titles; I cannot help but wonder if our cravings for intimacy during the holidays are merely disillusioned insecurities rising up because of one too many bad Lifetime movies. Ladies, PLEASE, reconsider what you are REALLY looking for. Are you really looking for Mr. Right Now? Will having that New Years kiss at midnight truly be the answer to your holiday blues?

           Being in a heavily committed relationship for 8 (Yes, 8!!) years of my life, then a few flings here and there. After the dust settled I quickly began to realize I was still missing a huge hole in my heart. I deserved to be loved right? I was attractive…..right? It’s them, not me…Or is it me and not them?Who cares! Lets have a ladies night and do some shots! (Deep down, we’re really sending some crazy messages here, Do we truly want love? Or are we being blinded by the “Power of Now?” ) Then you get a new dream, right? You get some hobbies and develop your skills & start “finding yourself”? While I believe everything under the open skies, including our own dreams and desires are and can be wonderful, beautiful blessings from God; I think they aim to deceive us more than actually enrich our lives like they were intended to…..including relationships. So before you start getting down on ridin solo to that party, stop to ask yourself, why you’re really unsatisfied. Through the grace of God, He’s opened my eyes to see what I had wanted so badly ; I was actually chasing the wind, never to actually catch all the things I thought would satisfy me. (especially that kiss under the mistletoe)  I let Christ into my heart when I realized I was chasing the wind my entire life, and I deeply needed to find some solid ground to stand on. Jesus said, “If a man wants to find his life(or the meaning of it), he must drop everything and follow ME. ” To find the meaning of life, suffering, wandering and LOVE. We have to lose ourselves, to find the Truth & the Truth (Jesus) will set us free.

Shrinkle, owner of SugarPillCosmetics.com, got to attend Sanrio’s Kitty in Pink ’80s Retro Prom Party recently! I fell in love with the pictures when I checked out her blog about it. Who knew Sanrio had crazy parties like this? I WANT TO GO!
