In Joy Jone’s own words, “Afro-beat lullabies, future jazz protest songs and electronic hymns is how I would best describe the collection of ditties that is my debut full-length album, Godchild.” … and basically, she’s right. This has to be one of my favorite albums. This soul songbird gives us soul fanatics something to look forward to in her future career. Her debut album GodChild is so refreshing. Very much needed! Something to vibe to, something to feel, and most of all – SOMETHING TO RELATE TO. In one of her songs, “Beautiful,” she sings,
“I am beautiful, yes I am. Despite the lies I’ve been told, I still am. Yes, it may seem a bit bold, but I am. It’s because God made me so, that I am.”
YES DOLL! Yes! We are all beautiful. And we can’t forget that! I know as a woman, sometimes we lose focus, and let our insecurities bring us down, but this song right here will lift you right back up where you belong. Joy Jone’s has such a beautiful voice too. It has this high pitch sound to it. Very different from the others we hear out there right now. She’s the truth, and she’s just like us. It lets us Dolls know that we don’t have to look like Beyonce to be a singer. We don’t have to be thin to showcase our talent. Be you! You are who you are. You are beautiful, yes you are. Thanks Joy Jone’s for sharing this with us. Artists like her is what the industry needs. Real raw talent. But anyways, sigh… I’m just so in love with this album. here are a couple songs that you NEED to hear… then you gotta become a fan & pick up her album! I posted a couple songs below. Check them out!
